In class today we did the following:
1. Dr. H gave a short overview of what CLIMATE SCIENCE LITERACY is ( see the presentation posted below and p 8 in CLASS NOTES)
2. Lon Huber, a former preceptor in the class, talked first about the benefits of being a preceptor, and then about ASUA Sustainability Committee Internship Positions.

3. Dr H announced that ASSIGNMENT I-1 on Your Ecological Footprint is now posted in D2L under Assignments (and is also under Quick Links on our class webpage for those who don't have D2L access just yet.). It is due next Tuesday Sep 1st, IN CLASS. She did a quick step through of the assignment, including Question # 10 which involves reading the Class Syllabus & FAQ and the Code of Academic Integrity and taking a Self Test and Readiness Quiz about what's in these documents.
4. Dr H then gave a presentation on Topic #2: "On Science & Being a Scientist" .

5. Students selected their (a) favorite and (b) most surprising quotes from the quotes listed on pp 11 -12 of CLASS NOTES (also in this handout: SCIENCE QUOTES [pdf] ).
6. Students worked on an In-Class (non-graded) activity on CARTOONS & QUOTES ABOUT & BY SCIENTISTS [pdf] We finished part A on cartoons and will talk about Part B on Quotes at our next class on Tuesday.

Go to the In-Class Activity on CARTOONS & QUOTES ABOUT & BY SCIENTISTS and work through the activity on your own. The answers to Part A are in Dr H's presentation for Topic #2 (above) which you should review (by clicking on the link above) to get caught up on the lecture that you missed. We'll complete Part B in class next week.
