In class today we did the following:

1.  The class took TEST #1 -- both individual (20 pts) and Group (5 pts) parts.  Prior to the test, Dr H gave a short presentation explaining the testing  procedure.

2. After completing the group test, groups began brainstorming on what they might do with their 10 minutes of class time for the G-6 Group GC Extravaganza described here:

THE GC END-OF-SEMESTER-GROUP EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

After Thanksgiving, for your final Group Assignment (G-6), each group will be given  10-minutes of class time to share something about GLOBAL CHANGE with the rest of the class in a fun and creative way:

Curious about solar power?  What about those polar bears on melting ice bergs?  Are you worried about the future of water supplies in the West?  Will there be more Katrina-sized hurricane disasters?  Is there anything UA students can do to slow global warming? What’s all this about Cap & Trade?  Who in the world might gain or lose under climate change?  Could YOU become a GC Entrepreneur?  Feel like dancing out a GC concept?  Shooting a YouTube video? Doing a survey?  Debating the Climate Bill?

Start brainstorming now!!  Discuss the possibilities in your GROUP today, then page through the DIRE PREDICTIONS text when you get home to get more ideas!

Find out what the members of your group are good at – any singers, dancers, artists,  actors, comedians?  Any hopeful entrepreneurs?   Politicians?

See if you can agree on something fun and creative that you could all do together to present something on Global Change to the rest of the class.  You will have class time off and on during the semester to work on this further . . . and decide.  TODAY IS THE BRAINSTORMING DAY!!!

3. After the individual and group tests, the group with the LOWEST ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT was rewarded with a little prize!

4. For our  "Sustainability Segment" we watched the Chapters 5 and about half of Chapter 6 of the PBS NOVA show:  Saved by the Sun
(you can view it again yourself online at the following link:  http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/solar/program.html
