In class today we did the following:
1. Dr. H then gave a presentation on Topic #10 The Earth's Energy Balance. This is a key TOPIC OF THE SEMESTER for understanding global change processes. :

2. For our ZOMBIE BREAK we started a new "Sustainability Segment" film:

"Too Hot Not To Handle"
(a 2006 HBO Documentary) The video is now posted in D2L (under videos) We watched the first 11 minutes, up to the section on "Water Supply." Students were asked to annotate the Checklist of Direct Observations of Recent Climate Change on p 30 of Class Notes as the film addresses many of the observations in the checklist. |
3. We ended up not having enough time to get to the G-3 Group Assignment on Applying the Energy Balance Terms, but the lecture provided background to it so students can get going on it right away on Thursday. You can start thinking about the assignment by going to p 53 of Class Notes.
