ANNOUNCEMENTS

IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY

In class today we did the following:

1.Then Dr H  gave a lecture presentation to wrap up the Ozone Topic:  Topic #14 Stratospheric Ozone Depletion - Part II

Topic #14 Stratospheric Ozone Depletion - Part II

Here is the related video we watched on:  "Recipe for an Ozone Hole"

FYI  Below is another interesting video that was NOT shown in class.
It's about the Arctic Ozone Hole & how global warming may be causing or influencing ozone depletion over the Arctic!

There was a clicker questions at the START of class and another at the very END of class.

2.  We then watched the FINAL segment of

Too Hot Not To Handle  "Too Hot Not To Handle"

The video is posted in D2L (under videos shown in class)

After the movie, students were given a paper with two questions on it and asked to write down what they thought (see below).
They then got into groups to discuss the questions and turned in the forms for an ADDITIONAL PARTICIPATION POINT for today's class.

DISCUSSION Q  #1:   Temple Dickson, the wind power “rancher” said that corporations are based on making profits, not out to save the world.  His quote:   “Corporations just don’t do that!”

WHAT DO YOU THINK?    Should corporations bear some responsibility to “save the world”?

DISCUSSION Q #2:  Michael Oppenheimer, the Princeton professor, said:   “At the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, no one anticipated global warming . . . .  It’s one thing when you don’t know the consequences, but to continue that behavior when you know that it’s damaging to you, and you know it’s going to be very damaging to future generations, is inexcusable.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK?    Is it inexcusable to continue “business as usual” ?

As individuals?          As local or national governments ?        As businesses & corporations?
