In class today we did the following:
1. Several announcements were made about RQ-9, the Thinking Deeply Reports, Gradebook updates, and the Final Exam. See ANNOUNCEMENTS below to find out what was said.
2. Dr H wrapped up the class with a short presentation on Biodiversity and Deforestation and TA Jeff Oliver followed up with a presentation that provided background for the G-8 Biotic Responses to the Effects of Global Climate Change activity.

3. Dr. H (with TA commentary) showed the first segment of the LINKING-TO-LIFE slides: Groups 1 through 8

1. RQ-9 was due at noon today – to avoid an Absolution Form avalanche, the cutoff will be extended until 11:59 pm tonight. (Nov 28)
2. THINKING DEEPLY reprieve! -- The THINKING DEEPLY REPORT REQUIREMENT has been changed:
Students now are required to submit ONLY 1 report. You must submit it by 11:59 pm on Saturday Dec 2nd.
The Dropbox folders will be "locked" at midnight.
Those students who have ALREADY submitted 2 Thinking Deeply Reports, and those students who submit a 2nd report by the new Dec 2nd due date may earn up to 5 extra points added to your Thinking Deeply score.3. The LAST Global Climate Change Lecture is tonight @ 7 pm. “Designing Policy Responses” by Paul Portney, Dean of the Eller College of Management & Professor of Economics
4. TEST #4 is THURSDAY Nov 30th. The TOP 10 is now posted. There will be a Preceptor Study Session on Wed Nov 29 @ 5:30 pm in ILC 151.
5. Your LAST assignment is the I-6 Debate Assignment and you should be working on it now. Your Team's sign up sheet is in your Team Folder. I-6 is due a week from today on the last day of class (Dec 5). Another segment of "The McLaughlin Group" program will be shown as an debate example Thursday in class!6. Your Gradebooks have been updated recently . . . Please check them and contact the TA who entered the grade (not Dr H) to clear up any grade discrepancies. To figure out how your point total was calculated, click on the Calculator icon in your D2L gradebook:
7. ADVANCE ALERT ON THE FINAL EXAM:
The Final Exam will take place in THIS classroom on THURSDAY DEC 14th @ 11 am – 1 pm
(NOTE the start time: 11:00 am, NOT 12:30 pm)No EARLY EXAMS will be given.
The Exam will be worth 115 pts: multiple choice w/ If-At form, fill in blank, short answer, 1 or 2 essay questions
It will emphasize everything since the Midterm Exam, but will be cumulative for those concepts from the first half of the semester that relate to GC processes (e.g. electromagnetic spectrum, energy balance, etc.)
A Study Guide will be provided with sample questions and an Answer Key (like the Midterm Study Guide)

IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY:
- Review the presentations on Topic #19 (posted above)
- You missed the G-8 Biotic Responses to the Effects of Global Climate Change background handout & Group activity. To make it up, do the following:
- Read through the G-8 BACKGROUND HANDOUT [pdf]
- Review Slides #24-40 in the Topic #19 presentation.
- Then print out the G-8 MAKE-UP ANSWER FORM [doc] and type in the answers to the questions on your own (there is also a graph question that you need to answer -- if you know how to draw in a line in MS Word, you can also answer this question in the doc as well).
- Email your assignment no later than Thursday Nov 30th directly to Jeff Oliver jcoliver@email.arizona.edu , (the grader) explaining that you are doing an Individual Make-up of the G-8 Assignment or give a hard copy of your assignment directly to Jeff in class on THURSDAY Nov 30th.
