GRADING RUBRIC for ASSIGNMENT I-5

Assignment is worth 15 pts  

It must be typed and submitted (in pdf, doc, or docx format) to the D2L DROPBOX by 30 minutes before class on FRIDAY Nov 30th ( the day of the class debate).

You will also need to bring a copy of your assignment (paper or electronic)  with you to class on Dec 7th to use as your SCRIPT for the debate!   

5 additional  points will be awarded for the G-6 Group activity for being present and participating in the debate within your group

Points listed below represent maximum points possible for an "A" paper -- based on a significant effort and preparation of thoughtful, logical, and well-substantiated arguments (i.e., points and counterpoints).

(a) 1-minute statement --  beginning "Yes" or "No" and stating your viewpoint  ( 4 pts) 

List of 2-3 key bullet points
to support your Yes/No 1-minute statement ( 2 pts) 

 List of 2-3 counterpoints bullets that argue against your statement with a brief response to each counterpoint.  ( 2 pts)   
___ (b) Paragraph eloquently presenting your OWN view (your personal opinion, not that of your "role") plus points substantiating and defending your own view. Include References as appropriate .  ( 5 pts)
___ (c)  References for (a) and (b) above  ( 2 pts) 

 In addition:
Five (5) G-6 GROUP points will be awarded if you participate in the debate in class on Nov 30th.
