FILM & VIDEO REVIEWS & DISCUSSION POSTS
(worth 20 pts)

All posts are due on the D2L Discussion Board on
 Tuesday Oct 22nd
anytime before midnight (11:59 pm)

The D2L DISCUSSION BOARD IS NOW OPEN FOR POSTING

STEP 1:   WATCH A FULL-LENGTH FILM and 2 OR MORE SHORT VIDEOS

The purpose of viewing the films and videos in for this assignment is to give you some background information (and probably raise some issues) about global change issues that relate to your life in different ways.  The films cover consumerism, sustainability, the environment and many other topics.  They will also spark some ideas on what you may want to learn about or investigate further for your personal LINKING-TO-LIFE Term Project Report  (Part C).

All of the films and videos listed below are available
as online links or streaming video links under the

MOVIE icon in D2L

STEP 2: WRITE  AND POST  A REVIEW OF ONE  FILM & A REVIEW OF ONE VIDEO
(each review is worth 10 pts)

  • After you've watched your full length film, prepare a thoughtful  200-300 word review of the film with your own comments and critique.  Prepare it in advance, then COPY & PASTE it directly onto  the D2L DISCUSSION BOARD.   (don't attach it as a document, paste it right in)

  • Then do the same with your second review of 200-300 words on ONE of the shorter videos you viewed.

  • IMPORTANT:  Be sure you post your review in the proper location for your film or video on the Discussion Board -- there is a posting topic for each film or video title.

  • REMEMBER:  use copy and paste to post your review -- do NOT attach a document.

  • You are encouraged to comment on other postings by hitting reply - students who engage in really thoughtful exchanges and comments on other posts might earn a bonus point, depending on the quality of the exchanges.

  • In your commentaries, describe your personal reaction to the film or video, what you found interesting in it or learned from it, whether you agreed or disagreed with various parts of its message, if you found it hopeful or depressing, if you would recommend it to others -- and/or anything else you would like to say. You must substantiate and justify your views using thoughtful reasoning.
