Explanation of Criteria and Rating System:
After collecting my data I decided what criteria
(factors) were the most important to me, based on my
preferences for this type of product. I decided that
Texture didn’t make much difference to me, so I dropped that
factor and decided to focus on: UV Protection
(combination of spectrum info & SPF), Price, Odor, and Ease
of Use. The next step was devising a way to rank
these factors quantitatively for each lip balm. To do this
I devised the following rating scale to quantify my
preferences and established a value of 1-4 for each factor:
4 = best, 1 = worst .
When the ratings for factor are totaled, the product
having the highest rating number will be the overall best.
My RATING SYSTEM is summarized below: |

TABLE 2 - SUMMARY OF PRODUCT RATINGS
THE BOTTOM LINE: For full spectrum UV
protection, fragrance and ease of use, Safe Smaker is my
top rated lip balm. It may cost a little more, but the
extra cost is worth it to get full spectrum UV protection.
If you don’t mind a chemical smell, Lip Guard also
gives full spectrum protection and came in second. Both
products are recommended. |
