In class today we did the following:
1. Then Dr H gave a presentation on Topic #5 Part II - The Radiation Laws (cont.)
Topic #5 Part II - The Radiation Laws
2. After Radiation Law #5 , the Inverse-Square Law, was discussed we watched another
segment of the PBS NOVA show: Saved
by the Sun .

We watched the next 12-13 minute section (from about minute 21:00 to
29:30); up to the place where the program shifts to a farmer in Germany driving
his tractor.

After the video segment. Dr H talked about her home solar system and
electric car . . . . to share a little about how things can chance here in the
U.S.
3. Then Dr H's lecture finished up with Radiation Law #6 Selective Absoprtion and Emission .
4. Then students got in their groups to work on G-1, the first graded GROUP ACTIVITY:
Group Assignment G-1 Understanding Radiation, Absorption & Wavelengths of the
Electromagnetic Spectrum (worth 10
pts)
(To review it, see pages 30, 32 and 33 in Class Notes which contains
the same
questions as G-1)
The groups didn't quite finish G-1 so there will be more time
to finish it in class next week and Dr H will go over the answers to then
too.

You can make-up the 10-point group activity you missed by printing out this G-1 Make-Up Assignment, and working on the assignment on your own. Please indicate which GROUP you are in, then sign the document when you are done.
Submit your completed G-1 Make-Up Assignment to Dr H in class no
later than Thursday Sept 25th and it will be
graded to give you credit for the activity you missed.
