IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY

In class today we did the following:

 1.  Class included some practice clicker questions to prepare for Test #2  (see the posted presentation)

2.  Then Dr H gave a presentation on Topic #7 - Part II on the Thermodynamics & Energy Transformations

Topic #7  Part -II Thermodynamics & Energy Transformations + Laws of Motion
(this presentation included a mini-lecture on Newton's Laws of Motion to which have relevance for automobile motion and fuel efficiency.)

EXTRA (if you are interested):  If you want to learn more about how the Laws of Motion relate to Car Safety, here are some additional things to look at . . . .

"Understanding Car Crashes, It's Basic Physics" (produced by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) http://www.iihs.org/ which illustrates the Laws of Motion as they apply to driving and riding in an automobile! Watch it at this YouTube link at the IIHS's own YouTube Channel

Other videos from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS):        Safety consequences of vehicle size and weight

Understanding Car Crashes: When Physics Meets Biology

3.  Then class got into GROUPS and worked on the G-2 ENERGY EFFICIENCY  group assignment.  ( you can work through it yourself on pp 115--117 in CLASS NOTES.)
If groups didn't finish, there will be time AFTER TEST #2 next Tuesday to do so.

4.  Lastly, as part of a TEAM COMPETITION, each group discussed and ranked the energy efficiency of different types of electricity-generating power plants.

Groups filled out the following form.  The Answers will be given next week.
