ANNOUNCEMENTS

IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY

In class today we did the following:

1.  Dr. H shared some of the class comments about The Story of Stuff film (shown at the last class)

Dr H explained that in the purpose of the SUSTAINABILITY SEGMENT is to expose students to various issues related to the science content of the course (even issues that are controversial) and to get students to THINK about such things.  She also showed a short segment of "The Story of Stuff: The Critique" and told the class that the entire Critique is now posted in D2L under Videos.   A discussion forum where students can post their views on both films has now been set up in D2L under  DISCSSIONS  (the link is in the upper left blue navigation bar.)

 

 2.  Dr. H then gave a presentation on Topic #11 on Understanding Systems & Feedbacks:

3.  We then watched about 20 minutes of a movie  video:

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • RQ-5 was due today 30 minutes before class. 
    (If you missed it, see FAQ #22 to find out how to submit an ABSOLUTION FORM.) 
    RQ-6 will be posted soon and is due a week from today on Thursday Oct 29th.

  • ASSIGNMENT I-3 is due IN CLASS next Tuesday. (Oct 27).  The directions are posted in D2L.  Please bring your assignment to class ALREADY STAPLED!

  • The MIDTERM EXAMS are still being graded.  When the grading is completed next week Dr H will do a GRADEBOOK UPDATE in D2L.  It will include your “interim grade” based on points earned to date

 

IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY:  

  • Review the presentations on Topic #11  & the Follow-Up on The Story of Stuff  linked above.   Watch the original video and its "critique" in D2L under VIDEOS and post your comments on the D2L Discussion Board.
     

  • Watch  the first part of Too Hot Not To Handle video, (also posted under VIDEOS in D2L) We watched only the first 20 minutes and stopped after the section discussing the spread of West Nile disease via mosquitoes. -- Just before the start of the section on "Alaska Melting."
