ANNOUNCEMENTS

IF YOU MISSED CLASS TODAY

Today in class we did the following:

• All students filled in a yellow Background Information Form and turned it in before leaving. If you missed today's class, click the following link to get the online version of the BACKGROUND FORM, fill it out, then email it to Dr. H as soon as possible at:   katie@ltrr.arizona.edu
   
• Dr. H gave an "Overview of the Class" presentation and the class participated in a voluntary scientific survey for a study by PhD student John Keller.

• We also watched a short video "ARIZONA IDOL" which gives guidance on avoiding disruptive behavior in the classroom.

• Dr. H encouraged students in the class to consider becoming a PRECEPTOR (see the above presentation's blue-background slides).
    Find out how to become a preceptor in Nats 101, Sec 40.

ANNOUNCEMENTS  

• Purchase a copy of the CLASS NOTES   in the ASUA Bookstore and bring it to class with you on Thursday Aug 24th.  (They are in the bookstore now!)
• The following assignment was announced in class:

(1)  Familiarize yourself with our D2L course site.

(2) Read & study the  Syllabus and the online FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)   Then take SELF TEST ST-A and Practice Readiness Quiz RQ-A to test your understanding of the course logistics & policies.

(3) Get your copy of CLASS NOTES as soon as you can this week & bring it to class on Thursday if it is available by then. To prepare for Thursday’s class, READ pp 11-16 on Science in CLASS NOTES.

(4) READ the short essay “On Science” by Robert Pirsig before class on Thursday 8/24 -- available on the NATS 101-GC webpage under QUICK LINKS in a pdf file – the PASSWORD is:   nats101gc
