Bonus Point Opportunities
 (each bonus item is worth up to 5 points - limit is two bonus items)

PART C  is OPTIONAL
 Do PART C only if you have time. Remember that your final grade in this class depends primarily on your tests, exams & assignments. Bonus points help, but they don't subsitute for doing well on the formal course material.

 For Up to 5 OPTIONAL BONUS YOU MAY EITHER:

(1)  Write a second  Bonus Commentary (for up to 5 bous points) on one or more of the full-length films or shorter videos, following the directions for Part B.

(2)  Complete  a Bonus Activity:  Research and explore in more detail one of the project categories above in a creative way that will allow you to deepen your understanding of that category and evaluate a choice or action that links some aspect of Global Change science (as addressed in our GC 170A1 class) to your everyday life.  

For example, you could . . .
  • explore your consumer choices for a product or service (paper products, appliance . ..)
  • explore your own energy use and practical ways to make it more efficient
  • explore and decide on the "best green practices" for your household, dorm or organization (fraternity or sorority house, sports team, faith community)
  • explore  the pros and cons of a personal lifestyle change (going vegetarian, driving less)
  • explore a wise investment for now or later (your dream car, "green" fund, going solar)
  • explore an advocacy group to support or join
  • explore an idea for an "eco-preneurial" product or service
  • explore the best ways to reduce waste
  • evaluate local businesses in terms of their environmental policies and practices
  • the possibilities are endless . . . . see the info at the links below for more ideas!

 PART C BONUS ACTIVITY DIRECTIONS:

One or more suggested BONUS ACTIVITIES are listed  at the end of each of the CATEGORY LINKS below.

(Note: some links on the Category Links pages above may be out of date or broken -- let  Dr H know about them!)

 

STEP 1:  For your category of interest, COMPLETE  the suggested BONUS ACTIVITY or create your own after consulting with Dr H.  (If you create your own Bonus Activity, it should represent a "going the extra mile" effort similar to those suggested.)


STEP 2:   DOCUMENT your bonus activity.  Pick one of the following format options for your documentation.

1) a written report (500+ words, 1-2 pages) that explains and summarizes your bonus activity succinctly, OR

2) a single Powerpoint Slide that explains and summarizes your bonus activity succinctly and visually, OR 

3) a video that explains and summarizes your bonus activity succinctly and visually

STEP 3:   SUBMIT your Documentation in the LTL Part C BONUS dropbox folder
